The rain is with us, the grass is sprouting, and the heavy equipment has been replaced by grazing geese and snacking blackbirds. Add a few ducks and that's about it.

But the real news is the reigning WNBA Champion Seattle Storm. The team caravaned to Westgate Plaza to celebrate with thousands of their fans. While Howard Schultz hugged Storm COO Karen Bryant, Governor Gary Locke proclaimed the entire coming week as Seattle Storm Week, throughout the state of Washington. You should've been there.

Assistant Coach Jessie Kenlaw and Sheri Sam shared some love with the fans, while 2003 WNBA MVP Lauren Jackson embraced the championship trophy and Head Coach Anne Donovan snapped memories. Aussie Tully Bevilaqua led the crowd in one more Oi! Oi! Oi!, and my favorite player, series MVP Betty "B-Money" Lennox beamed her way through the fans.

Thanks to the Storm for bringing a major sport championship, the 1st in 25 years, to Seattle. And thanks for bringing so much joy, and such a diverse community to professional basketball and professional sports in general. Check them out next summer!
